Literature Text

Hello?

Are you there?

Everything's dark...

I can't see you.

Can you see me?

Can you hear my voice?

I can't hear myself.

Even the harmonics
of thrumming engines
and whirring turbines
coupled with the
sweet melody
of death itself
are gone.

Please,
break the silence,
before the silence breaks me.

Where are you?

Vibrations shiver
through my sickly clean room

Are they coming?

Are they already gone?

Are you gone?

Air currents shift
Ever so slightly.

Movement?

A person?

I inch closer;
There's nothing left for me to lose.

My searching fingers touch skin,
And the elation begins.

Oh, joy!
Sweet release

I close my eyes.

You throw your arms
around me.

And for a
brief
moment.

I can see.

Then I open them
And it's dark again.

But now I don’t mind the darkness,

Because you're here.
...meh.

I've been messing around with this poem for a while now, and now I'm just posting it. Because I can.

Inspired by one of my favorite songs. Try and guess which one~
