Literature Text
Patterned glass and shattered hearts
Both cast the same reflection;
Each one looks the same, at first,
But neither shows perfection.
I should have simply left you there,
But I had no other choice.
Stumbling into my life, I stole you away;
Too enraptured by your voice
I tried to hide my ecstasy
And the triggered recollections.
On my own, I’m just a paradox,
But with you, I’m a contradiction.
How many times have I felt this way?
Only once or twice.
Too long ago, too far away...
My memories trapped under ice.
My jealousy, you’ve scarcely seen;
I keep it held inside.
It used to never permeate,
That is, until She died.
In fact, all three have broken loose,
Each fighting for domination.
My anchor gone, I drift to sea...
As they exploit my disorientation.
Only One doesn’t strive to fight;
It holds me in tight apprehension.
And yet it also keeps my mind at ease,
For as a whole, I defy all conventions.
And now I touch the glass again,
Knowing all too well in my mind;
I’m unable to perceive the way others can,
Just as I can’t see myself from the inside...
